Inherited gold charm bracelet featuring koala, whistle , corn and boot charms

NANA'S bracelet

On special occasions, my Grandad used to commission the family jeweller to make a small gold charm to add to my Nan’s bracelet.

Each charm represents a moment of celebration in their lives. It’s hard to pick, but my favourite is the little boot with mice, my kids especially love blowing the whistle. When Nan handed me her bracelet a few years ago, I wanted to share this piece of family history with my sister, so for her 30th birthday, I made two bracelets out of the original.

Historical Context:

Gold charm bracelets became popular for their sentimentality, versatility, and beauty. They appealed to the Victorian love for personalised jewellery and mementos. The option to add charms allowed wearers to mark important events, creating unique narratives. Gold's durability and timeless allure ensured their lasting fashionability. I've been involved in crafting charm bracelets, including the Monica Vinader ‘Capture’ range, which I consider a successful modern interpretation. I've also created bespoke charm bracelets, sourcing antique charms to evoke sentimental moments.

IVY ring

A flawless art deco diamond meets a chunky monkey ring, never to be taken off.

This ring is super special. I’ve made thousands of rings for clients, and I’ve never felt the desire more to make something for myself than when I saw this diamond.

It’s an extremely long baguette cut, which happens to be flawless, with a tint of yellow AND it’s antique. Does it get any better?

When I designed this ring, I wanted something with presence. Not one for overly ostentatious jewellery, instead I went for a flush setting, which would protect the diamond, whilst also being extremely comfortable.

This ring was designed to be worn all day, and all night, the knocks and scratches it’s picked up attest to that, each one, telling a story.

Historical Context:

Baguette cut diamonds, known for their sleek, rectangular shape, offer a minimalist elegance with clean lines and step-like facets. Popular in Art Deco jewellery, they are often used to complement larger stones. This cut became renowned in the 20th century for its understated sophistication. While famous diamonds like the Hope Diamond or the Koh-i-Noor feature more intricate cuts, baguette diamonds are prized for their subtle beauty, often seen accenting iconic pieces throughout history, adding refinement and symmetry.

The STEVO signet ring

Every generation in our family is gifted a signet ring on their 21st birthday.

It started with my great-grandfather, who crafted a ring bearing our family crest. I now have the honour of making our family’s signet rings, as well as wearing my own.  Each ring tells its own story, with initials engraved inside marking the lineage. When my children turn 21,  they will receive their own, and pass the tradition on to their own children. If you're looking to create your own family tradition, our handcrafted signet rings might be the perfect start.

Historical Context:

The signet ring, historically worn by nobility and leaders, served as a personal seal, used to stamp and authenticate documents. Its engraved design often featured family crests or symbols of power. A famous example is the ring of Tutankhamun, inscribed with royal symbols. Today, signet rings remain a timeless symbol of heritage and status, blending tradition with modern style.

SISTERS pendant

A very simple pendant set with three diamonds, with a special meaning.

Each of these diamonds began life in a pair of earrings. I wanted to create a piece of jewellery, which I could wear everyday, to represent my daughters Ivy, Sarita and Jean. Each of the girls will be gifted one the diamonds to design their own piece of jewellery when they’re a little older. Since I made this, my son Hugh has been born, the perfect excuse for an upgrade!

Historical Context:

The trilogy, or the use of three stones in jewellery, symbolises a journey through time: the past, present, and future. Often seen in rings, this design holds deep meaning, representing enduring love or significant life moments. The number three is also associated with harmony and balance, making trilogy jewellery both emotionally symbolic and aesthetically pleasing across cultures.
